Program Information Overview: 2017-2018


Saturday Mighty Mite Prep (U8/U10/U12) Age 7-11

Our Mighty Mite Prep program offers a 10 week introduction to ski racing. The prep program is available to skiers born in 2006-2010* (ages 7-11 as of December 31 which corresponds to age classes U8, U10 and U12) and meets on Saturdays from January 9, 2016 through March 10. The Prep Program is designed for skiers who want to try racing while working on their all mountain skiing skills. Skiers who are looking for a program with more race focus - but still plenty of all mountain skiing - should consider the Mighty Mite Race program. Prep athletes should expect to spend the majority of their time with coaches in directed free skiing. As the season progresses coaches will add limited race training. Athletes interested in the program must be able to ski parallel (no wedge) and be able to independently load Chair 7 (Gold Hills) without assistance.** Parents should plan to meet their kids for lunch during the day. This program cost includes the athletes’ race entry fee for the Sallie McNabb Cup race at Crystal Mountain. Prep athletes are invited to participate in CMAC’s mighty mite races and any races the club is travelling to for an additional fee. Note that some races such as White Pass' Bantam Cup race may require a USSA Membership but mighty mite races at Crystal do not. 

The cost for the Mighty Mite Prep program is $895 if paid during early registration (payment received prior to October 15). After that date, the cost is $995.

Additional Training Option: 

  • Prep athletes can add Mid-Week Training at Snoqualmie Pass (Wednesdays in January through March) for an additional fee of $480.

Mighty Mite Race (U8/U10/U12) Age 7-11

The Mighty Mite Race program is more focused ski racing program with options for either Saturday or Sunday. It is designed for the avid skier who is interested in developing his or her race and all-mountain skiing skills.

Athletes should expect to split their time with coaches in directed free-skiing and regular gate training. The program is available to athletes born in 2006-2010* (ages 7-11 as of  December 31 which corresponds to age classes U8, U10 and U12) and meets on from early December to mid-March. Athletes must be able to ski parallel (no wedge) and load Chair 7 (Gold Hills) without assistance. In addition, athletes must be comfortable on intermediate and advanced runs in a variety of conditions.** Parents should plan to meet their kids for lunch during the day. The program cost includes the participation Holiday Camp, race entry fee for two weekends of home races and coaching at 2 away races. Mighty Mite Race athletes are also invited to participate in Friday afternoon free skiing at Crystal and fall dryland training at no additional charge. Note that some races such as White Pass' Bantam Cup race may require a USSA Membership but races at Crystal do not. The cost for the Sunday Mighty Mite Race program is $1300 if paid during early registration (payment received prior to October 15). After that date, the cost is $1400

Additional training options for Mighty Mite Race program athletes: 

  • All Mighty Mite Racer program athletes can add on Mid-Week Training at Snoqualmie Pass (Wednesdays in January through March)  for an additional fee of $480.  
Additional training options for U12 athletes in the Mighty Mite Race program: 
  • Full weekend training: U12 athletes can train both saturday and Sunday to get a full weekend of training for an additional fee of $840
  • Full time training: U12 athletes also also add a full time package (combining Mid-Week Training and Saturday Training) for $1000. 

Saturday Advanced Prep (U14/U16) Age 12-15

The Advanced Prep program is a one-day a week racing and all mountain skiing program. It is designed for the experienced skier who is interested in developing his or her race and all-mountain skiing skills by participating in a race program. Athletes should expect to split their time with coaches in directed free-skiing and regular gate training. The Advanced Prep program is available to U14 athletes born in 2002-2005 (ages 12-15 as of  December 31) and meets on Saturdays starting just after Christmas with the included Holiday Camp and extending into mid-March. Advanced Prep athletes are invited to register for CMAC’s home races. Note that some races may require a USSA Membership (which will be mentioned on the home races page). Athletes are invited to participate in fall dryland training and Holiday Camp at Crystal at no additional charge. The cost for the Advanced Prep program is $995 if paid during early registration (payment received prior to October 15). After that date, the cost is $1095.  

Additional training option for Advanced Prep program athletes:

  • Mid-Week Training at Snoqualmie Pass. Two programs are available (Wednesdays or Thursdays) which run from January through March for an additional fee of $480 per program.

Junior 1-Day Program (U14) Age 12-13

The Junior 1-Day Program is a flexible offering for U14 athletes who are experienced and want to continue to build race skills. Athletes will train with the full time Junior Program on Sundays, and compete in the PNSA U14 series races. This program is available to athletes born in 2004-2005 (ages 12-13 as of December 31) who want to train Sundays from early December to March. There are options for this program to add Saturday or mid-week training as well for an additional fee. Junior athletes are invited to participate in fall dry-land training, Thanksgiving Camp at Sun Peaks and Holiday Camp at Crystal at no additional charge. Juniors interested in additional training can participate in the fall Colorado training camp for an additional fee. 

The cost for the Junior 1-Day Program is $1750 if paid during early registration (payment received prior to October 15). After that date, the cost is $1850

Additional training options for 1-Day Program athletes: 

  • Mid-Week Training at Snoqualmie Pass, Wednesdays and Thursdays in January through March for an additional fee of $675.
  • Saturday training starting in December for an additional fee of $1250.

Junior Program (U14/U16) Age 12-15

The Junior program is a full time formal race program. It is designed for the experienced athlete who is interested in building his or her race skills and striving to reach their maximum potential at USSA level competition. Skiers will compete in the PNSA U16 and U14 series races. The Junior program is available to athletes born in 2002-2005 (ages 12-15 as of December 31) who want to train up to 5 days a week (Wednesday through Sunday) from December to March. The Junior group meets Wednesday and Thursday evenings at Snoqualmie Pass and Friday, Saturday, Sunday days at Crystal. Junior athletes are invited to participate in fall dryland training, Thanksgiving Camp at Sun Peaks and Holiday Camp at Crystal at no additional charge. Juniors interested in additional training can participate in the fall Colorado training camp for an additional fee. In addition to our physical testing sessions, our Head U19 Coach Scott Macartney will offer physical training instruction with gym sessions, group meetings and fitness monitoring to the U16 racers, as well as general fitness advice for our U14 racers. 

The cost for the Junior Program is $3150 if paid during early registration (payment received prior to October 15). After that date, the cost is $3250.  

U19 Program - Age 16-20

The U19 program is a full time formal race program. It is designed for the experienced skier who is interested in building his or her race skills and striving to reach his maximum potential at USSA or FIS level competition. Athletes can participate only in the regional USSA races or in a broader set of FIS races up to the elite level. This program is available to athletes age 16 and older as of December 31  (U19 and U21) who want to train up to 5 days a week (Wednesday through Sunday) from December to March. The U19 program meets Wednesday evenings at Snoqualmie Pass, some select Thursdays at Crystal or Snoqualmie, and all Friday, Saturday, Sunday days at Crystal. U19 Program athletes are invited to participate in fall dryland training, Thanksgiving Camp at Sun Peaks and Holiday Camp at Crystal at no additional charge. Juniors interested in additional training can participate in the fall Colorado training camp for an additional fee. Also, Head U19 Coach Scott Macartney will offer physical training instruction with gym sessions, group meetings and fitness monitoring with our racers.  

The cost for the U19 Program is $3250 if paid during early registration (payment received prior to October 15). After that date, the cost is $3350.

Master’s Program - Age 20+

 

CMAC offers a Master's program for skiers 20 years old and older, beginning in December and running until March. No previous racing experience is required. The program consists of a mixed schedule of free skiing, technical training and gate training on Saturdays and Sundays. Starting in January, we will compete in local races some weekends and train at Crystal in between. To participate in races a USSA Master's Competitor License is required. Masters who prefer to train at Crystal on race days are welcome to train with CMAC Junior or U19 athletes. CMAC will host one Master's event in January. We would like to invite Masters racers without CMAC athletes to volunteer to help us on race days this season.  Please let our Volunteer coordinator - April  - know if you are interested in volunteering at a home race. 

The cost for the Masters Program is $695 if paid during early registration (payment received prior to October 15). After that date, the cost is $795.

* In exceptional cases, skiers who are only 6 years old by December 31 may be accepted for the Mighty Mite Prep or Mighty Mite Race programs. Please contact the program director, Alan Lauba, at alan@cmacskiracing.com to discuss this.

** Skiers determined unable to ski at the appropriate level will be given a refund minus a $50 processing fee.
